The HCERA AGM was held on 7th October in the main hall of St George Catholic College.
This year we tried something different. The first half an hour was to be an opportunity to meet new people on the estate over a drink and cake. Things didn’t go as planned. Most just sat in their seats waiting for the meeting to start.
When we checked the number of people who had signed the attendance sheet, we were shocked to find only 20, rather than 25 for a quorum. Moreover an AGM has to be held within 15 months of the previous one, held in October 2024. There is no appetite for calling another meeting. So what to do? Subject to Committee approval, we propose to carry on as normal and have a motion on the agenda of the 2026 AGM to legitimise the 2025 AGM despite too few attending.
The meeting received all the annual reports, which had been made available on the HCERA website. The proposal by the treasurer to leave the HCERA membership fee at £5 and the road repair contribution for Ethelburt Avenue at £35 was uncontested. A suggestion, which looks like a good idea, is that the AGM should agree HCERA’s chosen charity for the year rather than the Committee doing this in time for the Carols.
