Car parking on the Estate

As we are all aware, the Estate was laid out in the 1920s when car ownership was far less than in the present day. This inevitably leads to some challenges regarding space for car parking which can only be mitigated by consideration for your neighbours.

So where possible, please park off-road to minimise the number of vehicles competing for the limited on-road space. But where driveways are shared, please be considerate of the other party having access along your shared driveway.

Please also avoid parking on or driving across grass verges on the Estate as the damage caused is unsightly and can take a considerable time to recover.

If you have a larger vehicle such as a van or camper, please be considerate to your neighbours in where you park it and avoid obstructing views from windows etc where possible. If larger but less frequently used vehicles can be parked off the road, this will be appreciated by your neighbours.

Finally, do remember that although Ethelburt Avenue, Field Close and the square on Bassett Green Road are private land owned by HCEL, they are considered to be Public Rights of Way and are legally treated as Highways. This means that all vehicles travelling on or parked on these roads must be Taxed and Insured and must hold a valid MoT Certificate where applicable. Vehicles that do not meet these requirements, such as those for which a SORN declaration has been made, must not be parked on the roadways within the Estate.
