At the outset, in 1991 the annual subscription of HCERA was £3 per annum. It has been £4 for a number of years and there is no intention to raise it at present, despite retail prices having approximately doubled since 1991.
How is the money spent? A regular item is printing, including this newsletter, other letters and notices to residents and the contents of the “Welcome Packs”. This requires printing of the Appraisal and Management Plan which has a lot of colour and so is expensive. Annually, we pay HCERA’s membership subscriptions to organisations with a common interest, currently, the City of Southampton Society and for public liability insurance.
The Summer Party, which fulfills an important function of HCERA to promote cultural and social activities, is a major item. We do however receive a donation from Woodhill Properties Ltd and we invite voluntary contributions from people who attend.
We pay for bulbs and new trees in the communal area and will make a contribution to tree work, again in the communal areas. Occasionally other expenditure arises, for example street name-plates in the privately maintained roads.
